Gobbo's Escape (2022)

To create the game 'Gobbo's Escape', myself and animators Charlotte Caudwell, Deiva Granados Suarez and Jamie Malecki-Ketchell collaborated with games designers Callum Knight and Andrew Downes.

The game was a puzzle adventure game, with gamers playing as main character Gobbo, a goblin outsider who has been captured and needs to escape. Using various belongings he finds,as well as what he keeps in his backpack, he navigates his way out of prison and into freedom.

The game had numerous levels, as well as an opening and closing cut scene. My role for this project included protagonist and aid character concept and production. This involved move sets, and their animation in the cut scenes. As this was a collaborative production, I also assisted in asset and background production, as well as compositing of the games cut scenes

Character Work

Ghost

This video shows the idle movement for the ghost character from Gobbo's Escape. This character is very gentle, and guides players through the game. The idle was chosen to be a subtle and soft movement to reflect these traits in the animal.

Gobbo

As the playable character, Gobbo needed numerous move sets for this video game, including run, jump, interact and pick up. In comparison to the Ghost, Gobbo is a loud and bright character, meaning his moves were exaggerated.

Having a clear turnaround ensured he stayed consistent throughout the game and cut scenes
