Muffled Existence (2023)
A short film combining 2D digital animation with stop motion set design. Expanding on techniques from my 2022 Movement in Nature film, hundreds of digital frames were captured with used various rigging methods to place the character, Noah, in a practical set. The narrative follows this pessimist drummer who leads a monotonous life, using music as a way to get through the days, until one day they push it too far and break their drums, forever changing Noah's perspective on life.

Behind the Scenes
This behind the scenes video shows how I created the combination of 2D and stop motion. Each frame of the character was printed and cut out, totally hundreds of paper frames. These were then placed in my stop motion environment, and with the help of rigs, captured frame by frame.
Depending on the scene, I also animated water ripples of the pond, or used the coloured LED lighting using an Arduino Board which I programmed to allow me to control the strength of the lights to mimic fading and pulsing effects in stop motion.
